Giving in

Silence stretched long across the deck, men caught between disbelief and uncertainty. Finally, the captain cursed under his breath, frustration thick in his tone. He lifted his hand sharply, signaling to the helm. The engine roared again, vibrating through the planks beneath their feet. With a reluctant turn, the boat steered after the dark, gliding shape moving steadily ahead of them. The chase had begun, though no one knew where it would end.
