Aimless wandering

Fifteen minutes later, the coastline blurred into nothing but a hazy smudge behind them. Blue stretched endlessly in every direction, swallowing up the world. Judy sat stiff, her body tense, scanning the horizon as if clues might appear if she looked hard enough. Unease gnawed at her with every mile they traveled. It felt reckless, aimless even, yet her instincts urged her forward. Some unseen thread inside her insisted she was heading somewhere real.
