About ten minutes into the walk, Bruno suddenly froze. His ears twitched upright, tail stiff, and body tense. His normal stride stopped entirely. Judy frowned, glancing down at him. To her surprise, he began a low, quiet growl, his attention locked on a patch of sand just ahead. She saw nothing—no shells, no debris, nothing odd. Yet his hackles stood on end. His gaze was fixed like stone. “What’s gotten into you?” she asked curiously, kneeling closer.
