Drawing Closer

The closer they came, the more details revealed themselves. Steel legs, thick and streaked with rust, rose defiantly from the depths, planted into the ocean floor. They held a massive platform aloft, high above the restless waves. Machinery squatted heavily on top, hulking and menacing. A groan drifted across the water—pistons grinding, generators buzzing, smoke stacks belching faint plumes that wavered in the wind. The sight loomed larger with every passing second, a hidden monster rising.
