Pete cut the motor, and the boat drifted quietly beneath the humming platform. The sudden silence pressed against Judy’s ears, broken only by the faint lap of waves. “You know what this is?” Pete asked, his eyes narrowing as he studied her face. Judy hesitated, her throat tightening. She knew that hiding the truth wasn’t fair anymore. She had dragged this man into danger, and he deserved honesty before things went any further.
