Among the workers

They crouched low the moment they reached the deck, keeping their bodies hidden behind rusted beams. Heavy footsteps echoed close by, the sound bouncing off the steel floor. A handful of men trudged past, their overalls stained, skin smeared with grease and sweat. They barked at each other over the deafening roar of machinery, voices sharp and impatient. The air reeked of oil, smoke, and chemicals, thick enough to make Judy’s stomach twist uncomfortably.
