Sand flew everywhere, spraying into the wind with each frantic motion of his paws. Judy slowed, panting heavily, confusion tightening in her chest. “What are you doing?” she called, voice shaky and bewildered. Bruno’s nose was caked with grit, his fur littered with tiny shells, but he didn’t glance up. His focus was absolute. Every shove of his paws dug deeper, faster, as if something buried beneath the sand compelled him onward with undeniable, desperate urgency.
