Within seconds the locals surrounded him, their voices colliding with the roar of waves. Hands pulled at his shoulders, dragging him back from the chain.
Their faces carried wide-eyed urgency. “Don’t touch it,” one man said firmly. “We’ve left that alone for years.” Luke glanced down at the rusted links. “It’s just a chain,” he insisted, unable to understand their reaction.
