Can’t walk away
Luke gave a small laugh, though his tone carried an edge of respect. “Sounds like superstition. Metal doesn’t drag men into the deep. Storms, bad judgment—those are the dangers.”
His words were rational, but curiosity burned hotter than caution. He wasn’t the type to walk away. Whatever secrets the chain held, he wanted to uncover them. Leaving without answers wasn’t in his nature.
