Scattering

One by one, the group began to leave. Some muttered curses, others shook their heads in frustration. “You’ll be next,” one man warned before trudging back up the dunes.
Within minutes, the group had scattered, leaving Luke with nothing but the surf and the rusted links stretching endlessly into the sea. He sighed, disappointed but determined. He wasn’t ready to walk away.
