A curious man

What Luke saw wasn’t driftwood, nor the usual mess of tangled rope or seaweed he sometimes encountered. This object looked metallic, thick, and rusted, its surface dull in the morning light. The shape was unmistakable: interlocking links larger than his own forearm. It was a massive chain lying flat on the rocky beach, its other end disappearing beneath the restless ocean. Curiosity driving him, Luke anchored his boat carefully nearby and climbed out to investigate.
