The silence weighed on them until Luke suddenly laughed. The sound was jarring, out of place inside the cavern. Edwin blinked at him, confused.
“What’s so funny?” he asked, voice muffled through his regulator. Luke shook his head, still laughing uncontrollably. The laughter wasn’t joy—it was disbelief, the kind that bursts out when reality refuses to make sense.
