Making an assumption

Luke extended his gloved hand, letting his fingers rest lightly on the pitted surface of the iron. The links looked ancient, eaten away by decades—maybe centuries—of saltwater, yet they remained remarkably solid under his touch. Curiosity flared in him, stronger than caution. Whatever lay attached to the other end had to be massive, given the sheer size of the links. Testing his strength, Luke tightened his grip and gave the heavy chain an experimental tug.
