Dangers of the countryside

Foxes had raided his chicken pen before, snatching hens in seconds and leaving only feathers behind. But badgers were his biggest nuisance. They would dig underneath fencing and claw at livestock just for fun, leaving his flock hurt or worse. It was always a fight to keep his animals safe in these parts, a constant battle between farmer and nature. So when Ben reached the back door to his garden, his mind immediately went there again, anticipating trouble.
