The next morning, Abby lingered at the window until the last neighbors drove off. When the street fell silent, determination tugged at her. Curiosity gnawed too hard to ignore.
Stepping outside, she walked toward the green sedan. The dogs circled steadily, ignoring her at first. Emboldened, she joined them, pacing in their orbit, copying their strange, endless routine.
