Checking the street

If she was going through with it, Abby needed to be sure no one was watching. She stepped outside, strolling up and down the block as casually as possible.
Her eyes darted toward windows, scanning for movement. Nothing. No neighbors peered out, no curtains stirred. The street was quiet, hers alone. Satisfied, she tightened her grip on the hanger.
