Talking Along the Way
As they walked the winding paths, Julia kept stopping to read signs and take pictures. David laughed, enjoying her excitement. She asked questions about giraffes, elephants, even meerkats, as if he were the zookeeper.
He answered playfully, though his thoughts slipped back to the box in his pocket. His fingers touched it more than once to make sure it was still there.
