Trusting the Baby
The group followed the small hippo into the dense forest beyond the zoo’s fence. Branches cracked under their feet, and the air felt heavy with tension. Julia stayed close behind the calf, keeping her hand near its back as if guiding it, though in truth, it was guiding her.
The zookeepers kept watch, gripping their poles tightly in case danger arose. David whispered, “We’re really trusting it, huh?” Julia only nodded. “Sometimes instinct is enough.”
