The zoo staff never forgot Julia’s role in rescuing the calf’s mother. They presented her with a small plaque thanking her for her courage and intuition. “Not many people would have listened to a baby hippo’s signals,” the director said warmly.
Julia blushed, accepting the gift modestly. David kissed her temple. “This place will always be part of our story,” he whispered. And she knew he was right. The zoo had become more than a park.
