The Hippo’s Blessing
As the officiant pronounced them husband and wife, David leaned in and kissed Julia. At that exact moment, a splash echoed from behind them. The calf, now larger but still playful, bobbed its head above the water and let out a loud squeal. Laughter and applause erupted.
“Even the hippo approves,” someone shouted. Julia and David turned to see their old friend watching proudly. Tears filled Julia’s eyes. Their love story had found the perfect witness.
