Luis grabbed his phone, snapping a picture quickly. He pressed send, but the screen froze—no signal, no message sent. The pond was always just out of range.
He lifted the phone higher, waiting for even a single bar. Nothing. He was alone out here, staring at a boat that shouldn’t exist in this quiet place.
