Old Family Photo
Later, searching for an old baby blanket, Emily opened a forgotten photo album from her childhood. Between the faded pictures, she found a photo she didn’t remember: her own family standing in front of their old house, and off to one side, a teenage girl she didn’t recognize. The girl stared at the camera, unsmiling. Emily ran her thumb over the picture, unsettled by the memory she couldn’t recall.
