Tracing the Photo
Determined, Emily brought the photo to her mother one last time. “Who is this?” she demanded. Her mother looked older than usual. After a long pause, she spoke quietly: “She’s your cousin, Charlotte. She stayed with us for a few months, years ago.” It was the first honest answer Emily had gotten, but she could tell there was more her mother wasn’t saying.
