She followed the address to a tiny roadside gas station ten miles north of town. The owner remembered him instantly. “Old man, kind eyes, pays cash every time,” he said.
“Drives a blue pickup, right?” Emily asked. He nodded. “Parks down near the cliffs. Comes once a week for fuel. Doesn’t talk much, but he always smiles.”
