More people drifted into the street. Phones were out. Someone whispered, “Maybe it’s from that missing person case.” Claire overheard it and felt her stomach twist.
She hadn’t even thought of that. The object suddenly seemed darker, heavier. She looked toward the shed again, wishing she’d just ignored it altogether.
