The Opening Day
The morning of the opening felt strangely calm. Neighbors gathered along the fence while the local reporter prepared her camera. Alan stood by the shed door with Diane beside him.
Instead of a ribbon, they used a strip of yellow caution tape. “Fitting,” Diane whispered. Alan smiled and cut it.
