Mouthing The Words
Two students at a nearby table whispered complaints. “She’s got all the reference copies,” one muttered. Emma walked over to calm them, glancing toward the old woman who seemed completely unaware. She was mouthing words as she read, tracing sentences with her fingertip. Something about her focus made Emma strangely uneasy.
