In actuality, the dark ‘rocks’ were turtle eggs. Turtles have a unique nesting procedure. They often come ashore during the night and lay their eggs in dug-out nests in the sand.
After this laborious process, the mother dutifully covers her clutch with sand and returns to the sea, leaving her precious eggs in nature’s hands.
