Reaching out to the company in question, Jane learned about an initiative in which the seemingly shockingly harmful act played a key role in bolstering the area’s marine ecosystem. These tires, stripped of any harmful materials, were being used to create artificial reefs, an underwater structure made to promote marine life in areas with a featureless bottom, to boost local biodiversity and to offer an ingenious way of recycling these tires.
