When Peter approached the local golf club, the mystery unraveled. He learned that his house was unwittingly situated quite comfortably in an ‘errant ball zone’, a term coined by the club to describe places where wayward golf balls are likely to land. No doubt golfers were aware of this, making their shots more cautious around this area. But on windy days, the balls, once lifted, could be carried further off-course than expected. His home also appeared to be in the path of an infamous golf hole known as the ‘Devil’s Elbow,’ notorious for its narrow, sharp bend.
