Buried in the heart of the world’s largest rainforest, inhabitants of Cuyabeno are no strangers to the region’s diverse wild fauna. From brightly colored macaws and industrious leaf-cutter ants to elusive jaguars and benign sloths, the Amazon is an overflowing treasure trove of biodiversity. Anacondas, too, have a known presence in and around the waters of the great forest. Yet, encountering one of this magnificent serpentine ruler’s die-hard devotees — and of this size, was a truly jaw-dropping event.
